This year is off to a great start. We are looking forward to a wonderful year. We have already planned our first field trip of the school year. We will be going to Apple Annie's Orchard on September 16. The cost is $5.00 per person. If you have any questions, please let us know.

100th Day

Monday we celebrate our 100th day. Please be sure your child in here that day. We have a lot of fun activities planned. We are having a pajama day, and in the afternoon we will have snowcones and our 100 piece snack. Thanks to everyone that sent in items for the snack. The school with also be having a raffle with ten names drawn each hour for prizes.

November News
Thanks to everyone that made our Harvest Fest a huge success. Also thank you all for donate so much candy and prizes. Our class collected over 75 pounds. We have won a Pizza Party, to be held this Friday, November 5th.

Our Parent Information Night (PIN) will be tonight. Our principal, Mr. Leininger will be hosting a BBQ. Come out and have dinner and get to know some of the other LPA families. This is a great way to find out about what going on here at the school, and voice any concerns you may have.

On Monday, November 8th we will be sending home a tag board "turkey feather". Please help your child decorate it with items you have around the house, ie. stickers, glitter, raw pasta, feathers, sequins, yarn, craft foam, etc. Be creative and get the whole family involved. Please no coloring with crayons, markers, or pencils. Each feather will be displayed on our turkeys, in the classroom.

Tuesday, November 9th, La Paloma will be having a fundraiser event at the new Peter Piper Pizza (on Broadway across from Park Place Mall). There will be prize giveaways and a raffle. It will be lots of fun. Peter Piper will be donate a percentage of the nights sales, plus some prizes to be awarded throughout the school year.

Our annual Thanksgiving Feast will be held on Tuesday, November 23. This year will be students only. More info to come.

September News

We had a great time yesterday on our field trip to Apple Annie's Orchard. Thank you to all of the wonderful parents and grandparents who came along.

We will be continuing our apple studies through out the month. Next week we will conducting an apple survey. We are asking each child to bring in three different types of apples on Monday. We would like as many different varieties as we can find. We will be graphing them, counting them, comparing them, and tasting them. We will also be cutting them open to study their seeds.

Tonight is our annual Heroes Night. Come out and help support our local heroes. Dinner will be served at 6:00p.m. The ceremony begins at 7:00p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 14, is our picture day. Students must wear their uniform for this picture. This is the picture that will go in our yearbook.

Welcome to Kindergarten! We are very excited about the new school year. We look forward to getting to know our new students and their families. We have a lot of great plans for the school year. We know that the first couple days can be a little scary and overwhelming, but we will do our best to make sure your child feels safe and secure. Do you believe there are only 7 more weeks of this school year?
This month we are learning about seeds and plants. Your child should have brought in a fruit or vegetable that contains a seed. We will be cutting them and counting the seeds tomorrow. This month we will also be planting seeds and disecting a seed. We are also learning about catterpillars and butterflies.
April is Poetry month. Everyday we will be reading a peom to the class. Ask your child to tell you about it.
This week we finish up the alphabet with the letter Qq. Next week we will begin learning different concepts in phonics. We will cover long vowels and the diagraphs sh and th.

March News

Next week third quarter report cards are released. On Thursday, March 11, please come in to sign your childs report card and pick up your copy. This will be a half day with no lunch or after-school program. School will be dismissed at 11:30. Spring Break is Friday, March 12- Monday, March 15. School will resume on Tuesday.
A new book order will come home today. Don't forget you can place your order on-line. Our class receives a book for each on-line order. Our class username is MrsCleaver and our password is Friends. Orders are due Friday, March 19.
Money for Graduation is also due on Friday, March 19. Remember it takes several weeks for shipping so we will be ordering them soon.

Field Trip

Our field trip to the Rodeo is on Monday. Don't forget to send your child with a lunch. They should wear a red uniform shirt, jeans, and either boots or tennis shoes. Each child also needs to wear sunscreen. Thank you to Jacob and Jayda'a family who donated two cases of water to the class for the field trip.

Valentines and Rodeo

We have a lot going on this week.

Each child needs to decorate their poster board heart with the things that make them happy. They also need to bring back the envelope with an address and a stamp, so that we can mail home their card to you.

If your child is handing out Valentine's please have them put only their name on them.

Our party will be on Friday afternoon. Please be sure to send your child's party goodies in with them. Thank you.

Also, don't forget about our field trip to the rodeo. It will be on Monday, February 22. We still need parent volenteers, and cases of water. The children need to wear a red uniform shirt and blue jeans that day. They may wear boots on tennis shoes. DON"T FORGET SUNSCREEN. They will also need to bring a lunch that day, in a disposable bag.

Kindergarten News

This Friday is the Daddy/Daughter Dance. The girls are very excited and looking foward to it.
Next week, we celebrate the hundredth day of school. This is the day that the state uses our attendance to determine the amount of funding we recieve. It is very important that every child be present that day. We will have special activities, as well as a special lunch.

New Year

Welcome back! We hope everyone had a great holiday. There is lots to do now that we are back. The 100th day of school is coming up. This is an important day, because it determines the amount of funding that the school receives. It is very important that everyone comes to school that day. There will be special activities planned. We will have a little party in our classroom. We will use different snanks to count to 100, on a chart. The school will also be handing out a special treat for those who are present that day.
We started the Bookman's Challange this week. The school that wins the challange will recieve $15,000, so remember to read and fill out the form we have already sent home.
During the spring we will need to order our gowns for Graduation. The cost will be around $20.00. We have to order them about 8 weeks in advance, so that will be coming up soon.

Thanksgiving

We have bought our turkeys and are sending them home with two of our families to prepare them. Thanks to everyone who sent in money towrds them. On Tuesday we will have our Thanksgiving Feast with the rest of the school. It is always fun and helps the children to understand that they are part of a community.

We are thankful for each of our wonderful students.
We are thankful for their families for all the support they have given us this year.
We are thankful for being part of the La Paloma Academy community.
We hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday filled with love and laughter.

Turkey Feathers

Each child was given a turkey feather to decorate any way they like. Be creative. We would like to recieve them back by Friday, November 6. Come in next week to see our beautiful turkeys with all of their unique feathers.
